Bouchercon 2026 is pleased to designate the Further Education Society of alberta (FESA) as its partner charity organization.

Each year, the Bouchercon Local Organizing Committee chooses a worthy charity to receive the proceeds from the live and silent auctions. Bouchercon 2026 is proud to support the Further Education Society of Alberta (FESA) in their mission to strengthen communities, families, and individuals through literacy and learning by advocating, collaborating, and removing barriers.

About the Further Education Society

For learners with barriers—including low-literacy, abuse, recent immigration, learning disabilities, addiction, and poverty—reading opens doors and the world to them. FESA works to ensure the most vulnerable children and their families can build the foundational learning and literacy skills (LES) they need to create beneficial and lasting change in their lives.

2026 marks FESA’s 30 years of providing free family literacy and adult LES programs and assisting with learning initiatives in over 750 communities, including remote and Indigenous communities across Canada. Since 1996, they have helped people to see themselves as capable learners—able to meet goals they may not have previously dared to dream. Their programs build confidence, competence, and success in learning, while also strengthening a person’s independence, self-worth, and most importantly, hope.
